Review: The Concord Cheese Shop

People often ask me what I like about living in the Bedford area, and while there are many things, the variety and quality of local shops and restaurants are definitely one of the top items on my list, and I can't wait to tell you about one of my favorites!

After a particularly long afternoon at open houses, I was driving home feeling ravenous when I passed the Concord Cheese Shop and decided to stop in for a bite, and am I ever glad that I did! They made me the most amazing sandwich called the Sir Isaac Newton, I think, with turkey, cream cheese and green apples on raisin bread. And while I was ecstatically inhaling my sandwich, I overheard the owner directing shoppers to the best craft beers to accompany their purchases. Once I finished and spoke with him myself, he led me to my new favorite wine called Terra Boa, a wonderful red wine from Portugal for only $6.99 a bottle -- leave the price tag off and your guests will feel you put out the best for them. They are so incredibly helpful in selecting cheese and wine pairings and often share samples of their delicious cheeses and spreads, which are great for easy appetizers.

And then there are the Friday Night Dinners -- this is just the best idea ever! If you place your order by Wednesday, on Friday they will have a complete three-course meal prepared for you and ready for pick-up, including a recommended bottle of wine, for $75. No parking, no traffic, no babysitters, no noisy restaurants or forgetful waiters -- just delicious food and wine in the comforts of home -- it's tough to beat! Have a special occasion coming up on a Friday or just too pooped to cook? Check out the menu and learn more about what they offer on their website or stop by the shop at 29 Walden St., Concord. Bon appetit!
