Summer Safety

Summer, while a time of fun and relaxation, also poses unique safety issues, including an estimated 5,700 grill fires on residential properties. To enjoy this summer safely, please remember: dress for the heat and drink plenty of water; check in on elderly neighbors; always supervise children in or near the pool, lake or ocean; and exercise caution around fireworks, barbecues and campfires.

Summer can also place a strain on your pets, so be sure your dog has a shady spot to rest and plenty of water. For more details, take a look at these tips: Red Cross water safety, the US Fire Administration fire safety, and the American Kennel Club pet safety.

Wishing you a safe summer!
