Bedford Holiday Traditions -- Holiday House Tour and Bedford Santa

bedford-holidayYou may have guessed that I'm a big fan of the holidays and I have to admit, this is one of the best times to see how our community comes together. So while I know it's a little early, I also know how quickly everyone's calendars fill up, so here's a quick preview and save-the-date for a couple special events.

Suzanne & Co. Holiday House Tour While I certainly see the inside of many of the homes in this area, it's still a special treat to visit them all decorated in their holiday finest. And I must admit, I often pick up an idea or two for my own home! Save the date for this year's tour -- Sunday, Dec 15 from 1 to 4pm -- which includes one of my favorites -- the big green house on Davis Road (more about this unique home in a future post!), as well as a number of other homes highlighting the heritage and architectural variety in Bedford.

While out visiting the homes, guests are invited between 2 and 5pm to gather at the Congregational Church on Great Road for refreshments and holiday cheer, including the annual wreath raffle and the opportunity to shop for those special people on your gift list at the holiday bazaar. And an identical holiday item will be placed in each home -- the first three people to correctly identify it win tickets to next year's house tour.

Tickets are $20 in advance ($15 for seniors, $8 for children), and $25 day of the event -- available at the New England Nursery at 216 Concord Road, Great Road Gallery & Framing at 363 Great Road, and online at Proceeds support the activities of the Chamber of Commerce, including scholarships awarded to local students.

Bedford Community Santa Program Created by Bedford Selectman Clayton Morrill over 50 years ago with the determination that any child in Bedford can be visited by Santa Claus and presented with a special gift on Christmas Eve, it's a large community volunteer effort with over 300 dedicated current and former Bedfordites supporting Santa's visits.

For any Bedford family that wants to schedule a visit or make a donation, learn more and register before November 22 at
