Haute Coffee and Hot Renovations!

haute-coffeeWhen I can grab a few minutes between appointments, I love to relax with a good cup of coffee and peruse historic homes and renovations on the Internet, so I'm totally excited to share an awesome new find in both these arenas. First the coffee. I recently discovered Haute Coffee on Walden St. in Concord at the location where Comella's used to be. While I'm disappointed to have Comella's closed while they move to Main St. (where Concord Hand Design used to be), Haute Coffee is definitely an excellent addition to the neighborhood!

The vibe and the ambiance is very European and they take their coffee very seriously. Each drink is hand-crafted and made to order, and let me tell you, if the pumpkin latte is any indication, the extra attention to detail is well worth it. It had a wonderful pumpkin flavor without tasting too sweet, and I seriously crave it every day now! And they made a delightful steamed milk with cocoa drink for June and she felt very grown-up, having her steamed drink with me.

They also have a selective menu of handmade bakery and sandwich items, including an egg and cheese sandwich on a glorious brioche with real ham -- it was heavenly!

As I was enjoying these delightful goodies, I started my surfing, assuming my day couldn't get any better, when I came across the before and after photos of this amazing renovation. The project is an 18th century stone spring house and as many renovations as I've seen, when I saw the before photos, I thought there was no way they would be able to save it. Just wait until you see the after pictures -- it's extraordinary and wonderful to see such a loving and thoughtful effort. I especially love these photos as we don't see alot of this type of stone construction around here.

As you can tell, I love a good restoration story. How about you? What's your favorite rescued or restored building near you?
