One of the many great things about this area of Massachusetts is the variety of activities for all ages. The Drumlin Farm Sanctuary in Lincoln, MA is a local favorite, offering CSA shares, farm tours, summer camps, and most recently, their annual Sap to Syrup pancake breakfast.
Suzanne & Company lead buyer agent Jessica Clark attended this year with her family and is eager to share her first-hand report. Take it away, Jessica!
----- This is such a fun event, and often sold out, so be sure to plan ahead for next year!
The seatings are in half hour time slots, so be quick to get your spot! Then you go through the line to get your food -- pancakes, sausage, home fries, orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate, tea, milk, and the star of the event, fresh maple syrup.
Before or after you eat, you can explore the farm and visit the newly born animals. Lots of baby lambs this year. Our two year old daughter's favorite was the chicken coop this year. She loved listening to the rooster crow and kept asking him "what are you talking about? Why did you say that?" every time he crowed. So cute!
They also have a demonstration/talk about maple sap tapping and how maple syrup is made, complete with samples! We love it so much we've made it a yearly tradition to go with family friends and their kids. And each year when it rolls around, I know spring is right around the corner!!
How about you? What do you look forward to as a sure sign spring is on its way?
