One of the many things I love about living in Bedford is the sense of community and support that is evident year round. I've had the privilege of meeting Tina Langone, the founder of Friends for Matty Foundation, Inc. and I invite you to join us this Saturday, September 6, for a good time and a worthy cause. Matty Langone was a brave and courageous 5 year old who lost his life to neuroblastoma (a rare form of childhood cancer). This year, the foundation named in his memory is hosting a Gold Ribbon Gala in honor of Childhood Cancer Month at the Doubletree Suites in Bedford, MA (44 Middlesex Turnpike) from 7 to 11pm. Featuring guest speaker Ethan Zohn -- the winner of the 2002 Survivor TV and two-time cancer survivor -- the evening also includes live music, appetizers, a cash bar, silent auction, The Gold Wheel of Fortune, raffle items, and many surprises!
The mission of the foundation is to provide financial assistance to families in the Bedford area with children who are battling cancer. In addition, some of the proceeds will be donated to local hospitals to enhance family resources and support research for neuroblastoma and other childhood cancers. All of the funds raised from this event will be used to support the Friends For Matty Foundation's work in our local community.
I hope to see you there for this special event! Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased online at http://www.friendsformatty.org/Get_Involved.html
