Hippoty Hoppity Easter's On Its Way

Hey kids, you better watch out because Santa isn’t the only one who decides whether we are naughty or nice!  According to German folklore, that cute little bunny, known as the Easter Bunny, Easter Rabbit or Easter Hare, used to go over the naughty or nice list once or twice before deciding whether you got Easter eggs or not!

The Easter Bunny has long been known as a symbol of Easter and eggs are part of the tradition.  How that came to be is a bit up for grabs. Some say it is because rabbits can be a bit prolific (if you ever had a rabbit, you would know what we mean) and that brings with it the hope of a good growing season starting in spring.  Others say the eggs became part of the custom because people would abstain from eggs during the fast of Lent and thus eggs were a great treat after 40 days of fasting.

Whatever the reason, we now associate bunnies, eggs, chocolate, yellow chicks in gardening hats and peeps of many colors with Easter!

Another fun tradition is Easter Egg Hunts! While we might not have one as famous as the White House Egg Roll, we have plenty of great ones in the Bedford, Lexington, Concord area.  Check these out.
